From baby to big girl

My two babies under the covers watching Dora this morning on TV

Kensington has really started "playing" lately. I'll hear her talking to her babies like I talk to Smith and really interacting with them like a little mommy. This morning was all about changing her baby's diaper. I kept hearing her in there saying "shuey baby, dirty diaper" and then she'd say "all clean" after she "changed" her baby. That's pretty much how I talk to Smith. It's just so cute to see her be a little mommy!

And then she quickly reminds me that she's only 19 months...I sat her in her high chair today to color while I unloaded the groceries. She didn't have this marker more than 30 seconds before she ATE THE TOP OFF. Yuck! If you enlarge this picture, you'll see that the marker is missing the top!

Thank goodness they're washable markers!

The zoo...

Yesterday, we went to the Dallas Zoo with some friends. Whitney, Erika, Sarah and I had 8 babies 4 and under in tow. And let me tell you...we had so much fun!
And here they are...Paxton (4), Mackey (3), Kirby (14 months), Ebby Lee (12 months), Nixon (2 weeks!), Kensington (19 months), Smith (14 weeks) and Molly (12 months)

My angel baby just hung out the entire time...Happy 14 week birthday!

And how else should Nixon spend his 2 week birthday, why at the zoo of course!

Kensington looking at the monkeys

Kensington and Molly looking at the ducks. You'll notice that Kensington is in different clothes now. Luckily, I brought a spare pair. In between these pictures, we went to the kids play area where they could splash around in water...she was sopping wet.

Looking at some animal...I don't remember :)

Paxton and Mackey got to ride a camel

Still hanging out :)

This was Kensington when we got back to the car to go home. She was creating her own "nap space" with Smith's blanket. She was asleep.

And this is random but I had to post it. A few weeks ago, my friend Aubrey blogged about how her daughter Ella puts things in certain places throughout the day. To date, it's my favorite of her posts because it's so funny to see how methodical these kids can be. A few days ago, I noticed that Kensington is taking an antique door knob off her dresser and setting it on her rocking horse's head. I haven't caught her doing it but it happens several times a day. I'll go in there, put it back up and then go back and it's on the head again. Since this picture was taken 3 hours ago, she's done it two more times. We don't really play in her room, so she's making a special trip in there just to put the knob on the horse's head. Why?????

A closer image...I found this door knob in an antique store when I was pregnant with Kensington. At the time, I didn't know if I was having a boy or a girl but I thought it was good luck.

Jenna Bree gets married!

My mom's BFF Bree's daughter was married over the weekend. I have grown up with Jenna Bree and her brother Jordan and love them like family. We were so happy to be a part of her special day. We love you JB!!
Bad picture...but it's Jenna and her new hubby Adam during their first dance.

No one likes to dance more than Jenna's dad Roy...they were having a great time!

My mom and Bree!

Me and the bride

I know you all have heard about Jojean...she's one of my favorite people (and hair stylist)...she CRACKS ME UP!

Jo and her hubby Jamie

Me and the bride's sister-in-law Amber...their dresses and necklaces were to die for!

When we got home, this is what I saw on Casey's lap...I think Smith and Kensington had a fun time with Uncle Brandon and Aunt Casey. Pictures here.

Should we get another dog?????

I need help! Several people have suggested and/or commented that Tulip might behave better and relax more if we had another dog in our house. Not a puppy, but an older, calm yet authoritative dog. It's that whole pack mentality...and apparently, Tulip needs someone to put her in her place.

If you know us at all, you know that we've spent tons of money and time on this teacup yorkie. Between her seizures (yes, she's epileptic), her barking and her dominant behavior, she's the most high maintenance one in my house (and I have two babies!).

I grew up with only one dog at a time, so the thought of having two seems daunting. I also know that getting another dog could make things worse. What the heck would I do then? I don't want a big dog (12 pounds max), so I know I'm limiting my options a bit. But 12 pounds is 4 times bigger than the runt we have now.

Please help me! I know a lot of you have more than one dog. Do you think this would help Tulip (and therefore make my house calmer) or make things worse. I don't want status quo either. If it's not going to help, then I don't need another mouth to feed or potty time to monitor.

BFF

I think Kensington has her first BFF. Our good friends and neighbors, the McAnallys came over for dinner on the patio Tuesday night (that's what neighbors are for, right?). This was the first time Kensington and Luke actually "played" together. They've been around each other since birth, but now they're actually interacting like big kids. Kensington chased Luke around all night saying "wait, Luke", "come here Luke", "stop Luke"...already chasing boys :).
Luke's mama sent me this picture of them sharing banana pudding...I could just eat em up!

Random acts of cuteness

Yesterday, I witnessed several random acts of cuteness from my kids.

First, while I was emptying the dishwasher, Kensington and I were watching "Rachael Ray" on TV. Kensington was sitting in her new lawn chair (yes, inside the house) and when Rachael finished making her burgers, Kensington started clapping and shouting "Yay, good job Rachael, good job". When Andrew got home, I played the dinner scene again on TV and Kensington did it again in front of him. She is apparently very enthusiastic about Rachael's dinner.

Secondly, while I was making Smith a bottle, I watched as Kensington went up to him in the swing, stopped the swing, leaned over and kissed him right on the mouth, then started the swing back up for him. It was so sweet!

Finally, I was typing an email last night while Smith was lying on the floor next to me, and he was being so happy that I had to share...

Life of the party

Today, as I was teaching the 3 year olds in Sunday School, my friend Abby said I needed to come next door and check out Kensington in her class...
Here she is passed out asleep in the infant chair.
Question: Why is the 19 month old in the infant chair?
Answer: Who knows??? Abby asked her if she wanted out and she said "No!". So, Abby left her alone.
Question: Did she have some late night party that left her too tired for Sunday School?
Answer: No...she went to sleep at 9:30 which is two hours past her bedtime but that usually doesn't make her fall asleep in a room full of very loud one year olds.
I took this picture with my Blackberry phone, so it's not the best, but I thought it was too cute not to share.

A day in the life of Kensington & Smith (& Kirby!)

Another day in the life of Kensington and Smith (and Miss Kirby!)...
See...I'm not lying when I say Smith is happy 100% of the time. Look how he wakes up!

And this is how Kensington wakes up.

Both my little guys start their day on the floor watching the news with Mommy and Daddy

Then Kensington had yogurt for breakfast

And Smith took a nap (he likes to nap 1 hour after waking up from a 12 hour night sleep...go figure?)

On our way to Baby Boot Camp, I had to inspect a house for work...look what street I turned down :)

Kensington in her stroller getting ready for Boot Camp to begin

Smith tucked into the stroller waiting for Boot Camp (maybe another nap???)

Smith hung out in the swing while I fed the two girls lunch

Kensington wanted to eat her lunch in the little high chair on the floor

Kirby (who showed up after Boot Camp) got to eat in the big high chair. Kirby Cox is the ultimate 3rd kid...she understands that as the third child she can't be difficult or complicated. She was SUPER easy to watch. I would keep her :).

As soon as Kensington woke up from her nap (yes, all 3 kids napped at the same time and I gave myself a pedicure), she asked me "where's Kirby". Luckily, Kirby was about to get up too.

At first, Kensington wasn't sure about sharing her toys with Kirby, but it didn't take long for them to bond. She kept saying "come here Kirby" so Kirby could see all of her toys and follow her around.

Since the weather was nice, I took all 3 kids for a walk. Each girl got a Capri Sun and they split a bag of animal crackers. I took about 10 pictures but couldn't get both girls to look at me at the same time. This was the best I got.

My little man had some Bumbo time

Then after dinner, it was bath time

Kensington is helping us clean Smith

Then Kensington and Daddy had their nightly play time...this girl LOVES her Daddy

Sound asleep after a busy day

Goodnight!
